The Thompson Okanagan region is home to over 90 communities and hamlets and is roughly 71,600 km² / 27,644 mi² or the same size as Ireland, making it equivalent in size to the 70th largest country in the world. The region boasts a rich diversity in landscapes as varied as the tallest Canadian Rocky Mountain peak, to the arid climate of Canada’s only desert. Given this diversity, there are a wide array of visitor experiences possible. To celebrate the cultures and climates of this unique area of BC, the Thompson Okanagan region is defined by ten distinct community regions. They are:
